At The Body Shop Chiropractic & Sports Medicine, we believe that the proper care begins with the correct diagnosis. The key to getting to this correct diagnosis is through the history and examination. Here we are able to spend ample time with each patient and listen to their story to get a full picture and description of what is going on at the moment. We follow this in-depth history up with a thorough, focused examination of the area of the body in question, including orthopedic exams, movement analysis, and palpation. This combination of an in-depth history and thorough examination will lead us to the correct diagnosis and allow us to work together to create a custom plan to deal with the diagnosis at hand.
Manual therapy is typically what first comes to mind when people think about a chiropractic visit. This is the hands-on portion of the treatment, which includes the chiropractic joint manipulations, or adjustments. However, this is just one aspect of the manual therapy we provide. We also specialize in soft tissue mobilization or Manual Release Technique (MRT). These techniques are much like a massage and are put to use around affected joints or areas of pain, and are used to decrease pain/inflammation, as well as break up adhesions in the muscles, and help with muscle movement and function. The combination of soft tissue mobilization and chiropractic joint manipulations are what we use to begin the healing process and help get patients out of pain.
In this office we prioritize rehabilitation exercise and movement as a staple of high value care. We believe exercise is the key to the long-term solutions we can provide and is therefore a major aspect of our treatment process. This is where we begin to give our patients the tools to take control of their healthcare. As we go through the rehab process, patients will learn many techniques, exercises, and progressions/regressions of these exercises that they can use on their own to help manage pain or symptoms they may have down the road. We can see a patient for treatment in our office 1 or 2 times a week, but patients will gain confidence in themselves, and can utilize these techniques in their every day lives outside of the office.
